Basic Purpose:
Plans and prepares blending and production schedules for the manufacture and packaging of water and juice products.
Essential Functions:
Designs master schedule for three shifts to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, and equipment for maximum efficiency.
Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
Plans sequence of manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of Planning activities with activities of other functions such as production, quality, sales, records control, warehouse and purchasing.
Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions and prepares production reports.
Coordinates production schedule with Maintenance to ensure routine equipment preventative maintenance to ensure routine equipment preventative maintenance is performed.
Prepares inter-company purchase orders to obtain materials and supplies.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises up to three (3) employees in the planning department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Business Management, or related field, and three to five years experience in a production planning or scheduling; or equivalent combination of experience and eduction.
Language skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess proficient typing abilities, and have knowledge of Spreadsheet software (MS Excel), word software (MS Word) Database software (MS Access) and Email Software (Groupwise). The individual should also have knowledge of and be competent in the use of Warehouse Management System Software and hardware including hand held scanning devises.
