Job Opportunity
Country Pure foods is seeking a thorough, obsrvant and a self directed individual to guard the property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Individual must possess a current and valid CT Guard Card.
Duties and Responsibilities
Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has ocurred.
Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
Observes departing personnel to gurard against theft of company property.
Sounds alarm or calls police or fier department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
Permits authorized persons to enter property.
Records driver information on driver log.
Maintains awareness of personnel and authorized visitors on site and coordinates accountability in the event of an emergency evacuation.
Records and reports data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, to supervisory staff.
Performs some janitorial duties including monitoring and setting thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms, shutting off un-necessary lighting or other powered equipment, and clearing any blocked exits and extinguishers if able.
Regulates and monitors vehicle and pedestrian traffic at plant entrance to maintain orderly flow and accountability.
Uses yard horse to move trailers as needed.
Checks trailer reefers periodially to ensure they are functioning properly and re-fuels as necessary.
Performs inspections of extinguishers and eyewash/shower stations.
Follows instructions and responts to management or lead direction.
Writes and speaks clearly and informatively and able to read and interpret written information.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and completes work in timely manner.
Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.
Follows policies and procedures.
Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Uses equipment and materials properly.

Job Specifications
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or minimum of six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Judgement/Decision Making

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer and keyboarding skills, email and MS Word, and have knowledge of and be competent in the use of Surveillance software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess and maintain a valid CT Security Officer 8 Hour Certification I.D. Card and a valid driver's license. Must possess the ability to safely and efficiently move trailers on site using a yard jockey within (90) days of placement in this assignement.
Physical Demands
While performing the duites of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, dpth perception and ability to adjust focus.
